Tesla Robotaxi App Reveals Hidden AC Vent Controls in Deleted Cybercab Video

Tesla has quietly replaced an official Cybercab promo video after it briefly revealed an unreleased Robotaxi feature. The removed scene showed a passenger adjusting the Cybercab’s air vents through a Robotaxi app—a capability not available in today’s Tesla app.


What Was in the Original Video

The video was promoting Tesla's plan to offer autonomous ride services for employees at its Texas Gigafactory.

Shortly after it went live, Tesla swapped it for an edited version.

The key difference? The original included a brief scene showing a passenger inside a Cybercab using a Robotaxi app to control the AC vent direction — a feature that doesn't exist in the current Tesla app and has never appeared in any official materials before.

At roughly 21 inches, the center touchscreen is the largest Tesla has ever installed in a production vehicle, measuring about 36% larger diagonally than the Model 3's screen.

Nearly all functions are handled through the center display or the Robotaxi app. Traditional controls like the steering wheel, pedals, and most physical buttons have been removed entirely.


Production Is Already Underway

According to EPA certification documents, Cybercab production kicked off at the Texas Gigafactory in February 2026, with mass production beginning in April 2026.

Tesla has also started testing steeringwheel-free Cybercabs on public roads in Austin.


The App Experience: Set Your Preferences Before You Even Get In

Rather than building a separate Robotaxi app, Tesla has integrated the Cybercab experience directly into the existing Tesla app, creating a unified interface for booking rides, managing trips, and controlling in-cabin settings. This approach mirrors the Robotaxi platform currently rolling out in Austin and could serve as the foundation for future expansion.

Through the app, passengers can:

  • Set AC temperature

  • Adjust vent direction

  • Configure seat preferences

  • Enter a destination

  • Track the vehicle in real time

The big advantage: you can set everything before you board — no fumbling with settings once you're inside.


What the Leaked Screenshots Show

Leaked screenshots of the Robotaxi passenger interface reveal three core controls:

  1. Climate temperature — set your preferred cabin temp

  2. Vent direction — aim airflow exactly where you want it

  3. Trip info — view your route and destination

The vent direction control is a feature that had never been documented or mentioned in any official materials. Tesla removed the roughly six-second interaction clip showing this feature in the replacement version of the video.

Tesla has not provided any explanation for the removal. Possible reasons include: the feature may not yet be officially released, the interface could still be in development, the interaction shown may have been a demo, or the clip may have distracted from the video's core message about the employee ride program. Whether this feature will ultimately appear in the main Tesla app remains an open question.
