Flying an American flag from the porch is a familiar Independence Day tradition. But a driveway full of Teslas flashing in sync with music takes the celebration to another level. To celebrate America’s 250th anniversary in 2026, XLightShows launched a nationwide Tesla light show initiative this June, bringing owners from all 50 U.S. states together for a shared celebration.
The event, known as the 50 State Independence Day Tesla Light Show, allowed owners to participate on their own, join friends, or take part in official events organized by local Tesla clubs. Participants performed the same light show sequence at different locations, recorded their performances, and submitted their footage to the organizers for a nationwide event video.
From the East Coast to Hawaii
The 50 State Independence Day Tesla Light Show started on the East Coast and made its way across the country before wrapping up in Hawaii. To keep the performances consistent across different locations, organizers provided a specially designed light show file. Participating owners could download the file, load it into their vehicles, and run the light show according to the event schedule.
After completing their local performances, owners submitted their recorded footage to the organizers. These clips were then brought together to create the official event video, connecting Tesla owners and celebrations from across the country.
Group Events and Coordinated Formations
Owners could also take part in official events organized by local Tesla clubs. At these gatherings, staff helped arrange the vehicles into coordinated formations and assisted participants with setting up the light show playback.
All vehicles started the performance at the same scheduled time, allowing them to perform in sync. At larger events, vehicle “dance” movements were typically disabled to keep the formation and lighting effects consistent for filming.
Drones and ground cameras captured the performances from multiple angles. The footage was then combined with videos submitted by owners from other locations for the official nationwide event video.
