As the 2025 holiday season approaches, Tesla has officially released its massive annual software update——the 2025 Holiday Update. This year’s release focuses on intelligent AI integration, 3D visualization, and data transparency. It brings a more refined and convenient experience to Tesla owners worldwide.

1. Grok-Powered AI Navigation

Tesla is bringing Artificial Intelligence directly into the driver’s seat. For vehicles in North America equipped with AMD chips, the AI assistant Grok now handles navigation commands.

Owners can use natural voice commands to add or edit destinations. You can even add multiple waypoints in a single sentence. This makes planning complex trips much faster and more intuitive.

The core navigation logic has also been improved:

  • Customization: Drag and drop to reorder your Favorite locations.
  • Easy Setup: Set "Home" and "Work" addresses by dropping a pin on the map.
  • Smart Suggestions: The system recommends destinations based on your habits when you park.
  • Automatic HOV Routing: The system now factors in local HOV restrictions, passenger counts, and time of day to optimize your route.

2. 3D Charging Maps & Location-Based Limits

Tesla is making charging more visual and automated. New 3D site maps are being introduced at select Supercharger stations. Currently, this feature is being tested at 18 pilot locations.

This overhead 3D view shows the exact stall layout and real-time occupancy. It even allows you to select your preferred stall before you arrive.

Additionally, the update introduces Location-Based Charging Limits. This allows you to set custom battery limits for specific spots.

Feature Benefit
3D Supercharger Maps View stall layouts and occupancy in 3D for easier parking.
Location-Based Limits Automatically apply different charge limits for "Home" vs "Superchargers."
Battery Health Flexible battery management helps slow down long-term degradation.

3. Safety Transparency & New Convenience Features

The Dashcam function is now much more informative. When you playback footage, the system overlays critical driving data directly onto the video.

This data includes your speed, gear, steering angle, and pedal pressure. It also displays the Autopilot status. This transparency is vital for understanding the context of any incident on the road.

Tesla has also addressed common "small" annoyances with smart fixes:

  • Phone Left-Behind Alert: If you leave your phone on the wireless charger or in the car, a chime will sound after the door closes. This requires Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology.
  • Manual Charger Toggle: You can now manually turn off the wireless charging pads. This is perfect if your phone is overheating or if you simply don't need a charge.

4. Holiday Fun: Optimus Theme & Photo Booth

It wouldn’t be a holiday update without the fun stuff. The classic Holiday Mode returns with a fresh look. You’ll see new festive elements like snowmen and trees.

The most exciting change is the Santa Optimus theme. The holiday-themed Optimus Prime image will appear across the UI for all Tesla models.

Finally, the new Tesla Photo Booth lets you take selfies using the internal cabin camera. You can edit your photos with stickers and filters and share them directly from the car.

5. Other improvements

  • Enable or disable wireless phone charging pads in Controls > Charging (S3XY) or Controls > Outlets & Mods (Cybertruck)
  • Add Spotify tracks to your queue right from the search screen & scroll through large Spotify playlists, albums, podcasts, audiobooks & your library seamlessly, without paging
  • Take the vibes up another level with rainbow colors during Rave Cave. Accent lights color will change along with the beats of your music. App Launcher > Toybox > Light Sync
  • Lock Sound now includes Light Cycle from Tron Mode. Toybox > Boombox > Lock Sound
