5. Tips to Reduce Battery Degradation

Avoid frequent Supercharging

Regular use of DC fast charging can speed up battery aging.

Keep battery level between 20%-80%

Avoid keeping the battery fully charged or at very low levels for long periods.

Avoid extreme temperatures when parked

Use a garage or pre-conditioning features in hot or cold weather.

Update software regularly

Tesla OTA updates optimize battery management.

Minimize deep discharges

Try not to let the battery reach 0%.

Maintain proper tire pressure:

Underinflated tires increase rolling resistance and reduce range.

Drive efficiently

Use regenerative braking and avoid aggressive driving modes to reduce battery load.

6. Battery Care for Long-Term Parking

Monitor battery level

The car discharges about 1% per day even when not in use. If parked for more than two weeks, charge regularly or drive short distances to activate the battery.

Turn off high-consumption features

Disable Sentry Mode, Climate Keeper, and avoid frequent wake-ups via the Tesla App to reduce standby consumption.

Protect from extreme temperatures

Park in a cool, ventilated place to avoid battery aging from heat or cold.

Warning

Over-discharging to 0% may damage the low voltage battery. Related repair costs are not covered by warranty.
