1. Methods to Set Trunk Height
There are two primary ways to program your trunk's opening position. You can use the physical button on the vehicle or the Tesla mobile app.
Using the Physical Button
Press the physical trunk button to open the liftgate.
Manually move the trunk to your preferred height.
Long-press the physical button until you hear a confirmation chime.
-
Your custom height is now successfully saved.
Using the Tesla App
Open your Tesla App.
Tap "Controls" and then select "Open Trunk".
When the trunk reaches your desired height, tap "Open Trunk" again to stop it.
Immediately long-press the physical trunk button on the car.
Once you hear the chime, the settings are stored.
2. Location-Based Height Memory
Your Tesla is smart enough to remember where you are. When you set a trunk height at a specific location (like your home garage), the vehicle will automatically apply that height every time you return.
If you open the trunk at a new location where no height is saved, the trunk will automatically rise to its default maximum height. This ensures you have full access when clearance is not an issue.
3. Height Management Options
Once you have set a custom height for a specific location, the central touchscreen will display several management tools. These options allow you to fine-tune your settings for that spot.
Option |
Description |
|---|---|
Delete this opening height |
Removes the height setting for the current location only. Other saved spots remain unchanged. |
Save as default |
Sets this specific height as the global default for every location where you open the trunk. |
4. How to Clear All Saved Locations
If you want to start fresh or have moved houses, you can clear all location-based data. Use the following path on your vehicle's touchscreen:
Go to Controls > Service > Clear Saved Locations.
Note: This action will permanently erase all saved location-height data. This process cannot be undone, and you will need to re-save heights manually for each specific location.
