Tesla’s 2026 Summer Update Is Here: Grok Voice Control, Smarter Navigation & New App Features

Tesla officially rolled out its 2026 Summer Update in July 2026, carrying version number 2026.26. This release is one of the most feature-packed OTA updates of the year. It expands Grok AI's in-car voice control capabilities, brings personalized navigation learning, adds powerful new remote features to the Tesla app, and polishes the cabin entertainment experience across the board.

Hey Grok Development Timeline

Tesla introduced the “Hey, Grok” wake word in the Spring 2026 Update, making it easier to start conversations with the in-car AI.
The Summer 2026 Update takes things much further. Drivers can now use natural voice commands to:

  • Make phone calls

  • Search for and play music

  • Adjust the cabin temperature

  • Open the glove box

With these new capabilities, drivers can control more in-car functions without navigating through on-screen menus, making everyday interactions faster and less distracting.
European Tesla owners also receive a major expansion. Grok is now available across Europe, with support for navigation commands and the latest vehicle control features.

Navigation That Learns How You Drive

The navigation system got a meaningful personalization upgrade in this update.

Preferred Routes

Tesla's nav will now prioritize roads you frequently drive — not just the fastest route the algorithm calculates. If you always take a specific back road, the system will start suggesting it automatically.

Smarter Auto-Navigate

Auto-Navigate already suggested routes to home, work, and calendar events. Now it goes further — it learns your daily commute patterns and proactively plans routes to your regular stops, like:

  • Your kid's school on the way to work

  • Your gym on the way home

It's navigation that adapts to your life, not the other way around.

Tesla App Gets Powerful New Remote Controls

The Tesla mobile app gains several new remote control features in this update. Drivers can now set their desired battery percentage upon arrival directly from the app, a setting that was previously available only from inside the vehicle.

Upload Custom Wraps From Your Phone

Tesla has eliminated the old USB drive workflow for custom vehicle wrap files. You can now upload custom wrap renders directly through the app, changing the color and finish of your car's 3D model on the screen.

FSD Stats Dashboard

A new "Autopilot Stats" section is now live in the app. Track your:

Metric

Description

Streak

Consecutive days using FSD

Monthly Miles

Miles driven with FSD this month

Lifetime Miles

Total cumulative FSD miles

You can also screenshot and share your stats directly from the app.

Karaoke Gets a Scoring System

Tesla's Karaoke mode now scores your performance. High scores are saved to your Tesla profile — a fun way to track (and brag about) your in-car singing. Note: Karaoke is only available while the car is in Park.

Browser Now Supports Camera & Microphone

Tesla's in-car browser can now access the cabin camera and microphone — with your permission. This opens the door to a much wider range of communication apps, including:

  • Discord

  • Google Meet

  • Microsoft Teams

Tesla already supported Zoom on AMD-chip vehicles. This update extends that capability to more apps across the board.

Display & Media Playback Improvements

Custom Zoom for FSD Visualization

The Autopilot visualization view now supports a custom zoom level — independent of the map zoom. Previously, the system auto-managed zoom based on surroundings (widening at intersections, adjusting for speed and nearby vehicles). Now you can lock in your preferred view.

Apple Music Queue — Finally

202611.png

A small but welcome fix in the Tesla 2026 Summer Update: you can now add songs to your queue directly from search results and artist pages in Apple Music. No more workarounds.

Search Superchargers by Name

In addition to searching by address, you can now find Supercharger stations by name — handy when you know exactly which station you're heading to.

New Welcome Animations for Model 3 & Model Y

This update adds entry animations to 2024+ Model 3 and the redesigned Model Y — similar to what Model S and Model X owners have enjoyed for a while.

Rollout Timeline

Tesla has announced the Summer Update is "rolling out soon." As with all Tesla OTA updates, expect a gradual rollout — a small percentage of vehicles receive it first.

Note for FSD users: Vehicles running the latest FSD version will need to wait until the new features are merged into the FSD branch before receiving this update.
