Tesla HW4 Gets Full FSD v14.3.8 as HW3 Finally Receives FSD v14 Lite

Tesla is pushing FSD v14 forward. The latest release is FSD v14.3.8 (2026.26.6.5), continuing the rapid iteration of the 14.3 branch for Hardware 4 vehicles. Meanwhile, Hardware 3 owners — stuck on the v12 branch for months — are finally getting their version: Tesla confirmed in its Q3 earnings call that FSD v14 Lite is rolling out broadly to HW3 users in 2026.

Two Tracks: Full v14 for HW4, Lite Branch for HW3

FSD v14.3.x is exclusively for HW4/AI4 vehicles — it's the full, uncompromised build.

Vehicles equipped with Hardware 3 (roughly pre-early 2023 Tesla models) will not receive v14.3 in its current form.

Instead, Tesla has confirmed — both in earnings calls and public statements — that HW3 owners will receive a dedicated FSD v14 Lite branch. That rollout has already begun.

What Early Testers Are Saying About v14.3.7

Early adopters describe FSD 14.3.7 as the most relaxed and decisive version yet for highway driving and standard urban cruising.

The jerky braking that plagued earlier 14.3 builds has been largely resolved.

That said, the parking and navigation modules still require active driver monitoring. Errors at the end of trips — final approach stops, parking placement — remain a recurring issue.

What's New Under the Hood in v14.3.8

v14.3.8 continues the rapid point-release cadence of the 14.3 branch. The official release notes haven't changed from the previous version, but the update includes meaningful under-the-hood improvements:

  • Upgraded reinforcement learning phase

  • Rewritten AI compiler — delivering a 20% improvement in reaction speed

  • Improved 3D geometry understanding

  • Enhanced traffic sign recognition

Where v14.3.8 Shines

Testers report clear improvements in several areas:

  • Significantly less brake judder on city roads and roundabouts

  • Upgraded visual encoder keeps perception sharp even in heavy rain

  • 20% faster reactions make unprotected left turns and lane changes more decisive

  • Smarter parking lot behavior — more patient, better at anticipating other vehicles

  • New UI features: pull-over button and parked-state FSD launch

  • Better narrow-road U-turns

Where It Still Falls Short

There are still areas that need work:

  • Parking model remains inconsistent — prone to stopping mid-lane, on handicap spots, or misaligned at Supercharger stalls

  • Hesitation at certain intersections, occasional light brake taps

  • Minor environmental inputs like waving flags can still trigger hard braking

  • Occasional rerouting or missed exits in navigation

  • No pothole avoidance yet

  • No manual max speed setting independent of preset speed profiles

  • HW3 hardware degradation risk: camera or wiper failures possible around 70,000–90,000 miles, with high repair costs

HW3 Milestone: v14 Lite Is Now Rolling Out

Tesla has officially begun pushing FSD v14 Lite to HW3 Model Y and Model 3 vehicles. Model S and Model X are not yet included.

Here's what v14 Lite brings to older hardware:

  • Parking, pull-away, and reverse maneuvers

  • Customizable arrival options — choose lane drop-off or curbside stop

  • Persistent speed profiles

  • Feature parity approaching that of newer vehicles

It remains a Level 2 supervised system — hands on the wheel required at all times.

What's Coming in the Weeks Ahead

Looking at the near-term roadmap:

  • 2026.26 summer update expected to enable more broadly on Ryzen/AI4 vehicles

  • FSD V14.3.6 continuing phased rollout to more regions and HW3 vehicles

  • V14.3.7 or V14.4 possible but not confirmed

  • Unsupervised FSD still targeting Q4 2026 — likely starting in limited areas and fleet vehicles first

Referral Program Update

Current referral incentives for new vehicle purchases:

  • Buyer gets: 3 months of free FSD — a $297 value

  • Referrer gets: $250 in credits

  • Note: Model S and Model X are no longer eligible as of August 2026
