Tesla Update 2026.8: Smoother Braking for Model Y and a Major App Surprise! (image)

Tesla has officially started rolling out its latest software version 2026.8. This update focuses on enhancing passenger comfort and refining the digital experience. It introduces a highly requested driver tracking feature in the mobile app and a specialized braking mode. Tesla update 2026.8 adds Comfort Braking, a Spotify upgrade, and more to vehicles across the globe.

1. New "Comfort Braking" for Model Y

Owners of the new Model Y (Juniper) are receiving an exclusive feature called "Comfort Braking." This system optimizes daily deceleration for a much smoother stop.

The feature utilizes the vehicle's unique independent hydraulic channel to refine pedal feel. It prevents that "jerky" sensation when the car finally comes to a full halt. For now, this remains exclusive to the latest Model Y hardware configuration.

2. Driver Profiles Now Visible in the App

The Tesla Mobile App just received a stealthy but powerful upgrade. Users can now see which Driver Profile is currently active in the vehicle. This information is located under the "Security & Drivers" section of the app.

If the car is moving, it shows the active driver. If the car is parked, it displays the last person who drove it. This is incredibly useful for families sharing a car or fleet managers tracking vehicle usage.

3. Cybertruck Blind Spot Warning While Parked

The Cybertruck is becoming even safer with "Blind Spot Warning While Parked." This feature alerts you if you try to open the door while an object is approaching.

If a cyclist or car is detected in the blind spot, the visual indicator will flash and a chime will sound. The door will actually refuse to open on the first press to prevent an accident. You can override the warning by pressing the button a second time.

4. Spotify and Navigation Enhancements

Tesla continues to polish its infotainment system with UI improvements. The official 2026.8 release notes highlight several key changes:

Feature

Update Details

Spotify

New "Jump to Bottom" button for long playlists.

Navigation

Option to hide Destination Suggestions in settings.

Dashcam

Most recent footage now appears at the top of the list.

5. Dashcam Viewer Improvements

Reviewing footage just became faster. The Dashcam Viewer now automatically sorts clips to show the most recent videos first.

Keep in mind that the system still operates on a 60-minute loop for unsaved footage. Older clips are overwritten once the hour is up unless they are manually saved. This update makes it easier to quickly check a "near-miss" immediately after it happens.
