Tesla has begun rolling out the latest Tesla FSD v14 update, bringing Tesla FSD v14.3.5 (FSD Supervised) to a second wave of owners in Australia and New Zealand. The previous version, v14.3.3, had already started reaching vehicles in the region. Following Tesla's typical staged rollout pace, most eligible vehicles should receive the update within 24 to 48 hours.
Tesla FSD v14.3.5 AI Architecture Upgrades

This isn't a surface-level patch. v14.3.5 delivers meaningful upgrades to FSD's core AI stack across three areas.
1. Reinforcement Learning Retraining
Tesla has upgraded the reinforcement learning training phase of the FSD neural network. The system has been retrained on a broader set of edge cases — including unusual intersections, high-pressure lane merges, and ambiguous lane markings — resulting in performance improvements across a wider range of driving scenarios.
2. Visual Encoder Upgrade
The neural network's vision encoder has been upgraded to improve understanding of rare and low-visibility situations. It also features enhanced 3D geometric perception and expanded traffic sign recognition. Together with the reinforcement learning upgrade, these changes are expected to make FSD feel more confident and decisive — with fewer unnecessary hesitations.
3. AI Compiler Rebuilt from Scratch Using MLIR
Tesla has rewritten the AI compiler and runtime from the ground up using MLIR. The result: a 20% improvement in system response speed and faster model iteration cycles going forward.
Driving Behavior: Smoother, Smarter, More Decisive
General Improvements:
Reduced unnecessary lane drift and minor tailgating behavior
More decisive parking spot selection and maneuvering
Improved parking spot marker prediction, now displayed on the map with a "P" icon
Special Scenario Handling:
Enhanced response to emergency vehicles, school buses, right-of-way violators, and other rare vehicle types
Improved handling of complex intersections — including compound traffic signals, curved roads, and yellow-light stopping
Better detection of rare objects extending into the vehicle's path
Targeted training improvements for small animals and similar edge cases
System Robustness:
Improved handling of temporary performance dips — the vehicle can now maintain control and self-recover without driver intervention, reducing unnecessary disengagements
Driver monitoring system upgraded with better eye-tracking accuracy, improved adaptation for glasses wearers, and higher accuracy under varying lighting conditions
New Features and Interaction Upgrades

Speed Profiles
FSD (Supervised) now determines appropriate speed based on a combination of driver profile, speed limit, and surrounding traffic flow. The driver profile now has a more significant influence on driving style — a more aggressive profile allows higher maximum speeds.
The right scroll wheel has been reassigned: it now switches between speed profiles rather than adjusting precise speed offsets.
A new "SLOTH" mode has been added — slower cruise speed and more conservative lane selection compared to "CHILL."

Arrival Options
Users can now select how they want to arrive at a destination:
Parking lot
Indoor parking
Street parking
Driveway
Pull-over
The system remembers preferences per destination. The reasoning model evaluates suitable options and provides an intuitive default, with the navigation pin automatically adjusting based on the selected arrival type.

Interface & Controls
Stats are now viewable under Controls > Autopilot
Autopilot can be activated with a tap on screen from park or while driving
Speed profiles and arrival options are adjustable directly from the Autopilot visualization UI
Brake confirmation for the activation button is now off by default — no need to press the brake to engage. This can be re-enabled in settings.

Mobile App Integration
The Tesla app now shows whether FSD is active on the vehicle and displays the blue driving path. If the vehicle has the rainbow road Easter egg enabled, the app UI reflects it too.
Requires Tesla app v4.58.5 or later and vehicle software 2026.20.6.1 or higher.
Intervention Feedback
After a driver takeover, users can now select the reason for intervention from the home screen to help improve the system. Users can also view:
FSD intervention-free distance
Longest intervention-free record
Parking options displayed on the map upon arrival
Privacy, Security & How to Get the Update

Dashcam Encryption
The 2026.20 update introduces encrypted Dashcam video, further strengthening user privacy protection and vehicle data security.
The upgrade is especially important as Tesla previously extended Dashcam video retention from 1 hour to up to 24 hours under certain conditions. Without encryption, a removed USB drive containing extended footage could potentially expose sensitive information, including home locations, workplaces, and daily driving patterns.
How Dashcam Encryption Works
To protect recorded footage, Tesla has added new decryption options:
A dedicated decrypt button is now available in the Dashcam viewer, allowing drivers to quickly decrypt specific clips directly inside the vehicle.
A desktop decryption tool is also available. Owners can sign in with their Tesla account to verify ownership and decrypt Dashcam video files on a computer.
Requirements for 24-Hour Dashcam Video Retention
The extended 24-hour Dashcam video retention feature requires the following:
Requirement |
Details |
|---|---|
Software |
Version 2026.14 or higher |
Hardware |
HW3 (Hardware 3) or newer with AMD Ryzen infotainment system |
Storage |
Compatible USB drive or SSD with at least 1 TB capacity |

Navigation & Camera Improvements
The 2026.20 update also includes several improvements beyond Dashcam security:
New bus lane information alerts help drivers identify available lanes more clearly.
A front camera cleaning panel has been added under the Driver Assistance menu, including live camera feed and zoom support.
What This Means for Australia & New Zealand
Australia and New Zealand are right-hand drive markets — meaning the driving scenarios in Tesla's FSD training data for these regions are fundamentally different from those in the US or Europe.
The fact that Tesla FSD v14.3.5— with its reinforcement learning upgrades — is landing in this region nearly simultaneously with the global release signals that Tesla is treating these markets as a core part of its FSD expansion strategy, not an afterthought.
How to Get the Update Faster
If you want to receive this update as early as possible:
Set your software preference to "Advanced" — go to Controls > Software on the touchscreen
Tap "Check for Update" on the same screen to manually trigger a check
Connect to Wi-Fi — FSD updates are large and download more reliably over Wi-Fi
Keep the vehicle plugged in during the download
Confirm your FSD subscription or purchase is active under Controls > Autopilot
⚠️ Note: Force restarting the vehicle will not speed up the OTA push. The update will arrive automatically once your VIN enters an active rollout batch.
